The Alabama Hills has become one of my favorite places to travel to here in California. It’s a three hour drive from my home, so it makes for a great weekend vacation. The Alabama Hills is perfectly situated between the Sierra Nevadas and the city of Lone Pine. In fact, photographers looking to capture landscape photos are able to get some pretty awesome pictures of Mount Whitney and Mount Williamson. The main attraction though, are the vast boulders that sit along the valley floor. They seem to go on for miles. There are also tons of free campsites for anyone looking to spend a night or two camping. It can get very busy depending on the time of year you visit, but it still makes for a great destination when you’re looking to escape city life.

The images below are from several trips that I’ve taken to the Alabama Hills.
